Cleopatra and the King of Rome: The Show Notes
Here, as promised, are some flute metal jams:
Our modern sources for this episode include:
Stacy Schiff’s Cleopatra: A Life
Adrian Goldsworthy’s Caesar: Life of a Colossus
And our ancient sources include:
Plutarch’s Parallel Lives (Bernadotte Perrin translation):
Suetonius’ Twelve Caesars: Life of Caesar (J.C. Rolfe translation)
Cassius Dio’s Roman History (Earnest Cary translation)
*Correction note! In this episode, we said that the earliest written Greek dates from around the 8th century BCE. Actually, Linear B (the earliest attested form of written Mycenaean Greek) dates from approximately 1450 BCE. Still not as old as ancient Egyptian…but a lot older than we originally said. Thanks to AHFG listener Howard Peacock for pointing that out!
